The setting of the novel kind of gave me a hint about the government controlling things. The telescreens gave a big hint about being monitored and not everyone wants to be watched.

i think your comments true. if the people know that the government is watching them. they would think before they act because their scared of what the governments going to do to them. like how most of the world is now beside the united states. because we got freedom of speech.
